Patient Story

Caroline’s Story

In April of 2015, 38-year-old Caroline Taylor stopped her car at a red light and was rear-ended by another driver. The resulting injuries included chronic neck pain from whiplash.

Caroline underwent physical therapy, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (aka TENS Units), epidural injections and trigger point injections as part of her recovery process, but nothing produced results that have been as successful as electrode therapy from Dr. Gephardt at Nevada Pain Care.

Though she was initially a bit skeptical, having never heard of the treatment before, Caroline said, “I was desperate for something to fix me, and I was willing to try anything.”

Before trying the therapy, she said, she hadn’t had a single moment of pure relief.

“Before (electrode therapy) I hadn’t had a pain-free moment since the accident,” she says. “After the first few sessions, I started to have a few hours that were pain-free. It was an unbelievable feeling.”

Caroline has undergone about 10 treatments so far, and she plans to keep it up. Her painful condition is a work in progress, but she remains hopeful that she will make a full recovery.

“I do believe this therapy works. I hope to be able to say I am cured eventually.”

She adds that the staff at Nevada Pain Care has been a delight to work with. “The care that both Dr. Gephardt and his wife have given me has been amazing. I came to Dr. Gephardt desperate for help and hoping he had the answer. My previous doctors really didn’t listen to my concerns or give me any options for treatment except medications or injections. Even though I’m still undergoing treatment, I have hope now that I will be able to heal.”

About Equiscope Therapy

Overview

This procedure temporarily disrupts the nerves of the celiac plexus. These nerves branch away from your spine. They connect to the organs in your abdomen. Pain signals caused by conditions such as pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer travel through these nerves on the way to your brain. A celiac plexus block can relieve your pain.
